Why WFH will Never Beat Working in an Office

3 March, 2021

The recent pandemic has meant a semi-permanent change of scenery for those who are accustomed to working in office settings.

Remote working has somewhat become the norm and many of us have had to treat our own homes as our place of work in order to help dampen the spread of COVID-19.

Over the past year, working from home has meant that businesses have been introduced to new ways of liaising with clients as well as a giant list of online tools and software that have helped them adapt. As we’ve settled into this new world, it has sparked a number of conversations that suggest remote working is here to stay.

As experts in Commercial Property, Bolton Birch are aware of the benefits a great office space can have for a business and how it can act as a main component towards growth and success. That said, here are just a few reasons why we think remote working will never replace an office-based work setting.

Demonstrating Professionalism

Although many of us have been making do with what we have, meetings with new clients or even interviews will never be at their full potential over a video call. Having clients in your office not only gives you a chance to demonstrate your professionalism but what exactly makes your company unique. It helps give you that edge and could be what makes you stand out amongst your competitors.

It also gives potential new members of the team a chance to see their new working environment and get a feel for your team dynamic.

Routine

Working in an office gives you and your team a good routine and helps to separate work and home. Rest is equally important as work, if not more, and having a set time in which you work in an environment that isn’t your home is a great way to maintain productivity and your team’s wellbeing.

Necessary Equipment

Unless it has been provided, the whole of your team will not have access to the same equipment that they would in the workplace. This might include computers, monitors and even phones and headsets.

This might interrupt workflow and stop your team from being able to reach their full potential. When we all return to the office, all of your team will have access to everything they need to reach their targets and feel good about their work.

It’s inevitable that we’ll be leaving our ‘back bedroom offices’ and making the commute to the office once again. And when that time comes, it’s important that you’re equipped with the best possible workspace.
