How to Prepare Your Office after Working From Home

3 February, 2021

During the pandemic, many of us have seen our normal work switch from the office to our own home.

Some are loving the change of scenery, but many of us are awaiting the day we’re allowed to return to our places of work which have been left to gather dust over lockdown.

And when that day comes, what we don’t want is to be faced with a forgotten environment that will stop all productivity in its tracks.

So, we thought we’d use our expertise to present to you just a few ways in which you can prepare your office and make for a smooth, seamless and safe return.

*Disclaimer: Rules and guidelines are likely to change so always make sure you familiarise yourself with the latest government information. Click here to find out the current guidelines for your area.

Designate Sanitising Areas

It’s important that when we do all eventually go back to the office, we make ourselves aware of the current guidelines and maintain handwashing and sanitizing.

Before the whole team returns, be sure to make a prior visit to set up and install designated sanitizing stations in which can be fully stocked hand sanitiser, wipes, anti-bacterial spray and anything else your team would need to stay clean and germ-free.

Reiterate Social Distancing

When the encouragement to work from home is retracted, it might be that other rules and guidelines are also being relaxed. However, it’s likely that social distancing is here to stay.

That said, it’s important that you make all the necessary arrangements to encourage social distancing within the office. This might include spacing out the desks, utilising signage and enforcing rules in kitchens and common areas.

Speak to your Landlord/Property Managers

No matter the size of your team, be sure to speak to your landlord or property managers before you make your return. This will give you the opportunity to ask about any rules they would want you to enforce, and whether they have any advice they can give about the building as a whole.

If you happen to have a large team in your office, it could be that you need to look into renting a bigger office space so you can efficiently abide by the latest COVID guidelines.
