Bolton Birch, a niche practice set up in 1981, is the longest established specialist commercial property firm in Chester. When the practice was formed the aim was to always provide our clients with a very personal level of service which remains our core value to this day. Regulated by the RICS we provide the full range of

commercial property services in all sectors and pride ourselves on giving our clients straightforward advice gained from years of local property knowledge and experience. Whilst we specialise in Chester, Cheshire, North Wales and The Wirral, our property management department handles instructions further afield.

A Brief History of Bolton Birch

Simon Bolton & Co Start Trading

June 1981

Simon Bolton (left) sets up Chester’s first firm of surveyors and agents purely dealing with commercial property initially trading as Simon Bolton & Co and is joined by his brother Richard (right) a year later.

Simon Bolton & Co becomes Bolton Birch

January 1989

Graham Birch, a longstanding friend and colleague of Simon Bolton, leaves his position in the West-End office of Conrad Ritblat to enter into partnership with Simon to form Bolton Birch.

Jonty Goodchild takes the reins

January 2010

Having joined the practice in 1996 and having enjoyed a successful business partnership with Simon Bolton, Jonty becomes senior partner following Simon’s semi-retirement.

Bolton Birch and Dodd Commercial Merge - A Perfect Fit

April 2016

Jonty Goodchild and Martin Dodd agree on a merger between Bolton Birch and Dodd Commercial Property Management which was set up by Martin in Chester in 2011. A new era begins.

We can’t quite believe it is approaching 7 years since the highly successful merger and our team is stronger than ever with the recent appointment of qualified accountant Paula to head up the accounts and financial side of our expanding property management department.
