How to Keep Your Workspace Covid-Safe After Freedom Day

12 August, 2021

Freedom Day marks the lifting of the majority of covid restrictions implemented over the past few years. To make your colleagues, staff, customers and clients feel safer, you should keep up to date with the latest guidelines.

We’re finally coming to the other side of the pandemic, which means working from home is slowly but surely coming to an end as people return to the office. Naturally, there are many uncertainties that come with this. So here’s the top three things to ensure in order to keep people safe in the workplace.

Keep surfaces clean

COVID-19 is spread through close contact with an infected person. Droplets and aerosols are released when a person speaks, coughs, breathes or sneezes. A person becomes infected when they breathe these particles in or when they touch a contaminated surface. Reduce the ways the virus can spread through cleaning hands, sanitising regularly and cleaning surfaces with disinfectant.

Ventilation

You need to make sure your space is well ventilated. This doesn’t mean you need to splash the cash on a fancy air filter. Natural ventilation can occur through open windows, air vents or open doors. And the bigger the space, the better!

Face Coverings

Last but not least: face coverings. Face coverings are no longer required by law but the government encourages the use of face coverings in enclosed spaces. This can primarily be encouraged through signage. However, it is important to have conversations with staff members and colleagues about what makes them feel comfortable and how to better manage the risk of covid.
