Watch this Space!

22 June, 2023

Both Jonty and Martin attended the recent Cheshire Development Update at Chester Racecourse to hear some exciting plans for the future in Chester and Cheshire.

They were there to hear the latest news about the Chester City Gateway project – a partnership between developer LCR Property, Network Rail, and Cheshire West and Chester Council – which is developing the area around the Station, access to the City and Hoole.

The University of Chester spoke about their developments and how the student thinking is influencing their actions. Cheshire West and Chester Council is keen to get more people back into the city living, spending and working here and this is supported by ChesterBID.

Northgate Two was a hot topic building on the old car park and market. The council talked about a strategic framework for this.

Outside Chester there are lots of key rural developments including Tatton Group’s Parkgate Village and Tatton Services developments.

There was a call for a more coordinated approach to planning across Cheshire and Warrington and fewer barriers with only two people in a room of about 70 in favour of a Mayor for Cheshire.

Jonty Goodchild, Director at Bolton Birch said;

“We had the opportunity to speak to key ‘movers and shakers’ in the property world about the region and wanted to encourage planners and developers to work together to gain faster approvals to take advantage of the huge opportunities we can offer here. Collaboration rather than confrontation is the order of the day.

Most interesting to us was the comment from Tony Barton at Donald Insall Associates on the redevelopment of the old Browns of Chester and Grosvenor site by new owners Martin Property Group. He spoke about the site being reborn and that we should ‘watch this space’ positively.

We were really excited to hear about plans for all the projects covered and came away feeling very positive about the future.”
