London Marathon Success

6 October, 2021

Bolton Birch sponsored local runner, Charlie Weaver, in the London Marathon last weekend, and he finished in 3 hours 11 minutes, raising £2000 for the Stick ‘n’ Step charity!

Charlie, 21, from Tarvin, Chester ran the Marathon to raise money for charity Stick ‘n’ Step, who enable, inspire and support children with cerebral palsy within the Cheshire and Wirral area. He was inspired to run for the charity by his fellow gym-goer who has cerebral palsy. He trained intensely over the past year, often running 50 miles a week. He kept us up to date with his training journey, making plenty of posts on Facebook along the way.

With hard work, self-discipline and determination, Charlie reached his goal of raising £2,000 for Stick ‘n’ Step. He came 3,536th out of 43,000 runners, finishing in the top 10% of participants. What a great achievement!!

Whilst initially being disappointed at not achieving his goal of a time under 3 hours, (which he was on track to do until he hit ‘the wall’ at 22 miles) his time of 3 hours and 11 minutes is still an incredible achievement for his first attempt!

Not one to be dis-heartened, he is already signed up for the Manchester marathon this coming Sunday 10th October. So, after a short rest, he is already preparing to do it all over again!

Well done from all the team at Bolton Birch.
